Thursday

A very, very, very busy day today!  We made snowy pictures with shaving cream and paint and mixed up some playdough and used all of Miss Jill's holiday cookie cutters.  The kids "discovered" our new pillow area and overall enjoyed playing so well together today.

Wed

We enjoyed some pretty balmy weather outside today... Kiyo was back today so Drew retold the story of the Tomten for him so that he could know the story and help us make a few more Tomtens. We attached a summary of the story to our collection of little elf-likenesses and wished our neighbors a happy holiday on behalf of the Tomten and the preschool. The children helped to place about a dozen Tomten's on front porches.

Tues PM

The children are getting more and more adept with patterns!  We read a beloved old story called, The Mitten and re-enacted it (picture with the children under the blanket (animals in the mitten).  We used chopsticks in pretend snow to pick up cotton balls - good fine muscle exercise.  We read The Tomten and began making our own versions of this little secret elf that we might distribute around the neighborhood.  We painted some icy looking pictures and began a new chalk mural. Thank you to Regis intern, Trinity for helping to read one on one with children today.  We will host her just one more week before she has finals.  It has been great to have Trinity around to help and support in the classroom on Tuesdays.

Tues AM

Again I can't seem to get the pictures to load in the order I would like.  We read separately, a book about a snowy day and a book about stars and our activity surrounded these subjects.  We talked about how most snowpeople consist of three balls, sizes small, medium and large. We made a big snow person together then the children went about creating their own snow people with paper and glue, using markers to make faces.  We also painted some gorgeous watercolor stars.  In between we colored, playacted, constructed in blocks and painted at the easel.

Monday

So Miss Jill is still navigating the blogger site, does not seem to have as many options as wordpress so the pictures are not quite in the order I would prefer!  Bear with me. Below we cleaned off the chalkboard in preparation for a new mural.  We read a fun story called, "Stars," and painted some gorgeous stars with watercolors.   The children mostly were happy to settle in and play together! Later we decorated the room for the holidays and made time for show and tell.

Happy Thanksgiving

Welcome to our new blog for Milestones Preschool.  I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving!  Here are scenes from our Thanksgiving activity before break... The MTW class spend all week preparing their Stone Soup and we ate it last Wednesday, it was delicious and healthy!  Thank you for bringing in ingredients. The T/Th group enjoyed using chop sticks to pick up our water table full of cranberries and made turkey cards for our families.
